alright! super late writing this one 🙈 so we’re going to get straight into it 😏. regardless, i think you’re going to like this one because it might just blow your mind.
#tdil that when the first star wars film came out, the french were still executing people with a guillotine 😳.
i know right?! i thought beheadings had stopped in, like, the victorian ages … apparently not.
in fact, the french didn’t stop using this brutal method of death until the 10th september 1977, the day that the last person to be beheaded – hamida djandoubi – lost his noggin due to a large falling blade.
as you can imagine, capital punishment as a whole had a lot of opposition but the final beheading was one of the final nails in the coffin. doctors on the scene at mr.djandoubi’s beheading confirmed that the dude has been responsive for a full 30 seconds after his noggin was detached 😅 #basicallyacockroach.
capital punishment in france was eventually abolished entirely in 1981 🙂 and the guillotine is now on display in a museum 👍🏻
right, that’s all for today because i’m slightly late 🙈 hope you enjoyed!
night y’all! 🙃 #tdil
pretty short one tonight 😅 if you feel that you haven’t had your fill of mad facts just yet, why don’t you take a look at the rest of my blog –>here<– 😏
(turns out … there aren’t many free to use pictures of french guillotines 😅 so i’ve had to use a picture from 1583 or something like that! copyright can be found –>here<–
tonight, we’re going all out weird and wonderful as we look at some of the strange laws that exist around the world 😂.
originally, this blog post was going to be about just one italian law that i heard about a while ago but never actually investigated. after doing some research, however, it turned out that my law was actually really short and there are a couple of rather mental laws out there 🙈.
