i’ll be honest, i couldn’t think of a super catchy intro to this one today πŸ˜… brain be a tad frazzled πŸ₯“ #frazzlesarelife

anyway, today’s fact is a great fact about a slightly weird law that, if you ever visit singapore, might just help save you some time with the po po πŸ‘πŸ»

unlike 90% of this blog, today’s fact won’t help you in a pub quiz … but it might just help you in actual real life πŸ‘πŸ»

if you’re a motorist, you might find this one interesting πŸ™‚ … i drive a lot but i didn’t know this!

#tdil that smart motorways have little lay-bys called β€˜emergency refuge areas’ for if you breakdown πŸš— Continue reading “today i learned – tues 24th oct 2017”

so, it’s no secret that the government is all about cutting emissions at the moment … possibly because it’s trendy or possibly because they just hate cars #becauseboring 😒

anyway! whilst writing about today’s announcement that new sales of petrol and diesel cars will end in 2040 … i learned something amazing 🙊

#tdil part of the new plans to cut vehicle emissions could be the removal of speed bumps in the uk! 😬😬😬😬 Continue reading “today i learned – weds 26th july 2017”

alright! super late writing this one πŸ™ˆ so we’re going to get straight into it 😏. regardless, i think you’re going to like this one because it might just blow your mind.

#tdil that when the first star wars film came out, the french were still executing people with a guillotine 😳.

i know right?! i thought beheadings had stopped in, like, the victorian ages … apparently not.

in fact, the french didn’t stop using this brutal method of death until the 10th september 1977, the day that the last person to be beheaded – hamida djandoubi – lost his noggin due to a large falling blade.

as you can imagine, capital punishment as a whole had a lot of opposition but the final beheading was one of the final nails in the coffin. doctors on the scene at mr.djandoubi’s beheading confirmed that the dude has been responsive for a full 30 seconds after his noggin was detached πŸ˜… #basicallyacockroach.

capital punishment in france was eventually abolished entirely in 1981 πŸ™‚ and the guillotine is now on display in a museum πŸ‘πŸ»

right, that’s all for today because i’m slightly late πŸ™ˆ hope you enjoyed!

night y’all! πŸ™ƒ #tdil

tonight, we’re going all out weird and wonderful as we look at some of the strange laws that exist around the world πŸ˜‚.

originally, this blog post was going to be about just one italian law that i heard about a while ago but never actually investigated. after doing some research, however, it turned out that my law was actually really short and there are a couple of rather mental laws out there πŸ™ˆ.

#tdil that in milan, it is illegal to not smile whilst out in public πŸ™‚ Continue reading “today i learned – sun 30th apr 2017”
