today i learned – sun 24th mar 2019

bowling balls … they have three holes, don’t they? 😳 apparently, they don’t have to stop at three! 😱

#tdil that you’re allowed a maximum of 12 different holes on a bowling ball! 😳

12?! considering that us bowling mortals get by with just three, 12 seems a bit overkill really 😂 like, how can you possibly find a use for 12? … guess what … ima tell you 😏

first of all, you’re allowed up to five for the purpose of grip … which means that you can have a hole for each finger and your thumb ✋🏻.

personally, i can’t imagine bowling with all 5 fingers?! 🤔 … apparently you don’t have to use all 5 all of the time, but you do have to show that you can 👍🏻

besides those 5, you’re also allowed a ‘weight hole’ for the purpose of extra balance, a ‘vent hole’ for each finger/thumb hole (this helps your fingers escape the holes easier by venting air from the hole) and a ‘mill hole’ that is used for inspection purposes.

with all of those holes drilled in it, your bowling ball would end up looking as diveted as a golf ball! 😂 (i don’t think diveted is a word).

ta rahhhh 😘 #tdil
