today i learned – weds 6th mar 2019

it was pancake day yesterday šŸ˜Š but i didn’t think to do a pancake fact šŸ™ˆ

#tdil the reason why pancake day was invented šŸ˜

if you live in the uk, ireland or oz then you probably already know that we celebrate pancake day on ‘shrove tuesday’

shrove tuesday is the last day before the 40 days of lent begin – that means the beginning of 40 long days of abstinence – giving stuff up – if you’re so inclined šŸ‘šŸ»

you may be wondering what that has to do with pancakes? šŸ„ž no bother, i did too šŸ˜‚

apparently, making pancakes on shrove tuesday became a thing because it was the ideal way to empty the pantry of eggs, flour, sugar and fats … this removing all temptation whilst also minimising waste šŸ™ŒšŸ»

so yeah, it’s basically a way of using up all the things you can’t eat (well, you aren’t supposed to eat) during lent, without having to just blindly throw it all away šŸ˜‰

and that’s that … there’s possibly more to this … but this is what i found when i was looking šŸ˜

laters! šŸ˜œ #tdil

don’t know why i didn’t think of doing this yesterday šŸ™ˆ meh, see what i did write yesterday ->here<-

(picture time! the header is ->here<- and the other is ->here<-)
