today i learned – weds 10th oct 2018

as it’s mental health awareness day, i thought it only right we had something relevant today … because it’s hella important!

#tdil that 16 million people are currently suffering from mental illness in the uk 😳

that’s a really big number 😒 and it translates to one in four people experiencing a mental health problem every year 😳 one in four!?

of course, mental illness can manifest in no end of ways – from depression to schizophrenia – and the most common in the uk is anxiety … in fact, almost six in every 100 people suffer from anxiety.

despite this huge number, only 11% of the nhs’ budget is currently spent on dealing with mental health issues 😒 luckily, however, the government have promised increased spending going forwards 😊

with the above in mind, you may have noticed that the government has today announced the appointment of a minister for suicide prevention πŸ™ŒπŸ»

this is important β™₯️ every single year, around 6,000 people take their own lives in the uk and ireland … broken down, that’s an average of 18 a day! 😭

when you actually see the stats written down, it really drills home just how bad mental health is πŸ˜• it’s so so important that we support those in need, so that they can speak out 😊

be nice people β™₯️

much love 😍 #tdil
