the two most popular topics on this blog are food and travel … so, here’s a combination of both! πŸ˜‚

#tdil kids in germany get loads of sweets on their first day at school 🍬😱

i’m moving to germany and going back to the first grade 😱 free sweets for going to school?! count me in 😏

it’s a tradition called ‘schultΓΌte’ and it’s apparently to celebrate the ‘seriousness of life’ πŸ™ˆ … it’s been around since the 1800’s, so it’s a long time thing 😁

traditionally, kids would be given a cone of sweets and toys 🍭 these days, the cones are still filled with sweets … but it’s not unusual for them to also have video games and even cellphones in them!! πŸ˜±πŸ“±

turns out that this isn’t just a germany thing, it’s also a thing in austria and the czech republic πŸ‘πŸ» i’ll be honest, i’m 10000% jealous of this 😭 why can’t work give me loads of sweets on my first day?! 😭

laters πŸ‘‹πŸ» #tdil
