we’re getting dark today π strangely enough though … the dark theme is actually disney based?! π³
#tdil the original story of snow white and the seven dwarves had a pretty grim end π
it’s funny isn’t it – a lot of old nursery rhymes or stories made for children are often actually based on some pretty grim things π … a few that i’ve heard today would actually make some good horror films π
in the case of snow white, however, it’s just the ending that was dramatically changed by Disney to make it more kid friendly ππ»
as we all know (or should … like, there’s no excuse to not know how snow white goes ππ»ββοΈ), the disney story of snow white sees her poisoned by an apple π but then rescued when her prince kisses her … of course she then goes off and lives happily ever after πΈπΌππ»
that’s not how it went in the original german novel that was written by ‘the brothers grimm’ in 1812.
in their novel, snow white is still poisoned by an apple … but instead of a kiss saving her, it’s actually the prince dropping her casket that dislodges the apple from her throat, subsequently waking her from her slumber ππ»
after that, things get grim π snow white and her prince invite all the kings and queens to their wedding, including the evil queen π without knowing that it is snow white’s wedding, the evil queen accepts the invitation π
when she arrives, however, she is forced to wear iron slippers that have been super heated over coals π³ these shoes obvs burn her feet quite considerably … even so, she’s forced to dance in them until she dies β οΈ #lovely
how charming is that? ππ i hear that there are similar stories when it comes to rapunzel and pinocchio … maybe we’ll do those in the future π€
let me know what you think π
bye! π #tdil
