today i learned – mon 11th june 2018

right, stop all research into nanobots and colonising mars … this right here is the real future! 😱

#tdil that someone is developing a flying drone umbrella ☔️

that’s right people, in the not too distant future, there’s a chance that you won’t even have to carry your own umbrella … you can have a drone do it for you #shutupandtakemymoney

anyway, it’s called the ‘free parasol’ and it’s being created by a japanese plastics company called ‘asahi power service’ … despite the name, it is not free 🙄

at the moment, the company have only managed to make a version that uses an umbrella with a 59 inch diameter to protect you from the sun 😅; but they hope to have a rain protection version in the future.

the current problem is that it’s based around a dji mavic pro and they can’t cope with rain … as mentioned, future versions will be waterproofed 👍🏻

wondering how it works? basically put – the mavic’s gps tracks the user’s position and follows them around as they have a little wander.

as with any invention, there are currently some issues … namely: battery life, crashing into obstacles when in busy places, the deafening noise … you know, the usual drone issues 🤷🏻‍♂️ that said, it is only said to cost $275, which is pretty sick! 🙌🏻

i think elon should give up on flying to mars, his failing car company and limited edition flamethrowers and should instead start focussing everything that they’ve learned on this hella good invention.

need this please

laters 😏 #tdil
