today i learned – tues 29th may 2018

so, whilst on holiday at the weekend, we decided to get a new kitten 😍 … therefore, kitten fact incoming! 😏

#tdil that all kittens are born with blue eyes.

that’s right, whilst not all adult cats have blue eyes, all kittens do! their eyes just go through some changes later on that cause them to change colour.

the reason for this is that kittens aren’t born with the colour pigmentation that is required for a true eye colour. this comes when the cat has grown up a bit 👍🏻

how does this happen? well, once the kitten is 6 or 7 weeks old, the iris (the coloured part of yo eye) contains melanocytes. once the eye has matured enough, those melanocytes begin to create melanin.

it is this melanin that ultimately gives colour to the eye – which colour the eye ends up depends entirely on the amount of melanocytes and melanin.

superrrr quick one today 🙈 … i’m off on a work assignment, so i wanted to get this done! hopefully you’ve still enjoyed it! 😅

slightly rushed one today #soz. fancy reading something that isn’t rushed? just take a look over ->here<-

(the best thing about kitten facts has to be the images … licenses are: header ->here<-. picture one ->here<- and picture two ->here<-)
