today i learned – fri 18th may 2018

i’m currently on holiday β˜€οΈ and this post is actually to answer a question that my mom had πŸ‘πŸ»

#tdil the reason why scars don’t tan πŸ€”

it’s a pretty good question and, to be honest, i can’t say that i haven’t wondered it myself! without further ado, here’s the answer!

scars aren’t like normal areas of skin – they’re actually areas of fibrous tissue that replace skin after an injury. for that reason, scars don’t contain melanin (the stuff that is responsible for the skin’s pigment).

scar tissue is made up as the same protein as the tissue it replaces, but its composition is a bit different πŸ‘πŸ» – instead of a basket weave formation, scar tissue forms cross-links in a pronounced single direction alignment 😏

you know, that’s literally it πŸ˜‚ it’s simply that scar tissue is different to normal skin cells πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

proper short one today πŸ™ˆ hopefully you will found it interesting! 😁

peace ✌🏻 #tdil
