today i learned – weds 16th may 2018

as a fellow human being, you’re probably more than aware that it’s easy to get sucked down the youtube rabbit hole 🙈

well, today’s fact is the product of that! 😂

#tdil that ants are mad clever and can avoid drowning by building an ant raft ðŸ˜ą

so, it’s no secret that ants are really clever 🐜 (if that’s the correct term to use) but what i watched when i starting viewing ant canada’s videos (a youtube channel all about ant keeping), genuinely blew my mind ðŸĪŊ

you see, whilst moving millions of fire ants from their old enclosure to a new, custom built, amazon rainforest enclosure, a bunch of ants fell into their new lake ðŸ˜Ē

heartbreak hotel 💔 it looked pretty grim … drowning ants everywhere 😭 turns out that there was no need to worry … as the drowning ants did something amazing ðŸ˜ą

they literally clumped together and built a raft of ants! ðŸ›ķ now, that’s already pretty amazing … but then they did something else! the ants on one side started kicking their legs to give the raft power!!!! ðŸĪŊ

now, if you ask me, that’s pretty darn special … like, ants building a powered raft to save each other from drowning!? 😏 i think ants might take over the world one day 😂

if i’m honest, that’s only the first massive surprise of the video; they go on to do a load more amazing things … but, i’m not going to ruin it 👍ðŸŧ instead, why not go watch the video:

whilst the idea of an ant keeping channel might sound a bit boring … i can assure you that ant canada’s mega-enthusiastic approach makes it super interesting 😁 go forth, subscribe and enjoy 🙌ðŸŧ

anyway, that’s us for today 😘
