today i learned – weds 9th may 2018

planning a trip to new york but worried you might get lost in central park? 🙈

yes? you’ll want to read this one 😘

#tdil the lamp posts in central park are numbered to stop you getting lost 😁

the numbers may date back to the 19th century but they’re still just as useful today as they were back then! 😏 here’s how they work!

first things first, you’ll find a four digit number at the base of each of the 1600 lamp posts that frequent the park 👍🏻 it’s these digits that let you know where you are 😊

far from being random numbers, they’re actually code for your location 🤓 – the first two numbers tell you the nearest street and the last two whether you’re closer to the east or west side of the park (even numbers = east. odd numbers = west)

that’s literally that for today 😂 like, this was super short but still possibly the most useful post in a while 😅

go forth and explore! 🙌🏻

peace ✌🏻 #tdil
