i’ll be honest, i’m kinda bored of snow based drama … so we ain’t having snow on the blog today 👍🏻
that said, the thing that i learned today has made me a little bit sad 😢 … i think … i haven’t decided yet 🙈
#tdil that selfitis is now a genuine mental condition 😳 (but first, let me take a selfie 😜)
i’m not really sure what that says about the current state of the human race 🙈 like, we now have a medical condition that revolves around take pictures of ourselves 🙃 (also, we say ‘like’ a lot 😂)
but yeah, after starting as a spoof in 2014, nottingham trent university and thiagarajar school of management in india have named selfitis a legit thing.
it refers to people that are continually compelled to post pictures of themselves on faceballs, tweeter and instaspam 📸
further than just naming selfitis an actual thing, they even developed a ‘selfitis behavioural scale’ that determines the severity of the condition 🤓
there are three main levels:
1). borderline: taking photos of yourself at least three times a day but not posting them online.
2). acute: taking photos of yourself at least three times a day and posting each on the interwebnet
3). chronic: going full kim k, taking pictures of yourself around the clock and posting them online more than six times.
the source that i used to learn this was actually super long, so i’m not going to go through it all here 😅 if you’d like to read it, then it’s ->here<-
it basically goes on to say that people suffering from selfitis should seek professional help … because, you know, taking photos of yourself constantly for external approval isn’t an ideal way to live your life 😳
so yeah, in all seriousness, if you do think you might have a problem, deffo go see someone!!
anyway, i think that’ll do us today 😊 it’s been emotional peeps 👍🏻
righteous 🤙🏻 #tdil
