today i learned – weds 3rd jan 2018

i’ve recently developed a bit of an obsession with coke … something that my teeth are definitely not appreciative of 😅

anyway, that’s relevant to today’s fact … today, we’re talking about food colouring.

#tdil that the silky brown colour of coke is totally artificial 😳 … and the reason why it is 😏

it’s no secret that coke is literally stuffed with additives and colouring 🤷🏻‍♂️ like, it has the power to literally dissolve teeth … like superman using his eye lasers on a block of ice 😂with that in mind, it probably comes as no surprise that the lovely brown colour of coke is totally a lie 😳 what is quite surprising is the reason for the colour chosen 🤔

you see, coke has been brown ever since day one (even though a lot of people say that it used to be green 🙈) … it’s a colour choice that was thought about deeply by father coke himself.

you see, the colour brown does a really good job at hiding imperfections 🙃. so, back when coke was made in someone’s basement, the dark colour helped prevent people seeing any random things that happened to fall into a batch 😅 back in those days, caramel was used to give coke its rich brown colour 👍🏻 … whilst the recipe has changed slightly and imperfections are no longer a problem, coke retains the colour these days 😁

so yeah, that’s the reason why coke is a fake brown colour 😏 despite the rumours, it was never green 😅.

yaaaay, another fact down 🙌🏻 hopefully, you enjoyed this one 😘 if not, come back tomorrow and i may possibly make it up to you 😏

byyeeeee! 😎 #tdil
