can’t believe that it’s nearly xmas!? say whatttttttt!? 🎅🏻
anyway, today’s fact actually came around thanks to a question that my mom asked on our dog walk this morn 😁
#tdil the reason why your nose runs when you’re out in the cold ❄️
if you live in the uk, you’ve probably noticed this recently thanks to the mental cold weather that we’ve been enjoying 👍🏻 it’s highly annoying 🙄
but, as your nose begins to run and you have to sniff horrendously, have you ever just thought to yourself – “nose, why you do dis?!” 👃🏻
well, it turns out that the reason is to do with one of your nose’s key functions – conditioning the air that you breathe in 😏.
you see, your lungs quite like air that is warm and humid … freezing cold air is neither of these things 🙃 in order to fix this issue, it must add some moisture 💧.
however, freezing cold air is usually dry 😕 so your nose has to go into overdrive 💪🏻 to maximise fluid creation … your nose has some reflexes in place that allow it to create mad fluid 👍🏻
when this overdrive mode is really efficient … it can create loads and loads of fluid – hence the whole runny nose thing 😒
and there you have it! the reason for the cold weather runny nose is quite simply your nose overachieving, whilst trying to treat your lungs to some nice air 🙌🏻
right, that’s going to do us for today 😅 i hope you enjoyed!
byeeeee 😬 #tdil
