today i learned – sun 3rd dec 2017

did you happen to read yesterday’s fact about eating humans in japan? πŸ™ˆ well, today we’re sticking with the food vibes πŸ‘πŸ»

that said, we are going to strip out the whole eating person bit and stick to actual tasty food 😍

#tdil where marshmallows actually came from πŸ™ (yes, that’s sushi … but it looks a bit marshmallow-ish)

i am totally aware how random this fact is today … but i had a sudden craving for marshmallows and that got me asking questions πŸ€™πŸ»

anyway, marshmallows kind of find their origins back in ancient egypt … that’s like 2000 years ago 😱 #marshmallowsisold. back then, they were pretty different; instead of being the white fluffy goodness we have today, they were simply sap from the mallow plant mixed with nuts and honey πŸ€”

apparently back then they were reserved for the royals … and gods 😳 … they must have been damn good marshmallow type things 😏

marshmallows like the ones that we enjoy today actually came around thanks to the french (of course). the epic peeps behind marshmallows were french confectioners in the 1800s πŸ‘πŸ» … they mixed marshmallow with egg whites and sweeteners to make the goodness we get to enjoy 😍 #thanksfrenchpeeps

that’s literally that πŸ˜‚ as a brucie bonus, here’s an extra fact: astronauts put marshmallows up their nose during high-pressure liftoffs πŸš€

right, on that note, we’re done for today πŸ€™πŸ»

class dismissed 😘 #tdil

that was a fun one today πŸ™‚ it hasn’t quenched my craving for marshmallows but it was fun nonetheless πŸ˜… if you feel like reading more good shizz, go ->here<-

(after looking at marshmallow pictures, i’ve realised that i can totally pass this off as seasonal πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ … anyway, photo licenses: the first hot choccy image is ->here<-, the s’mores picture is ->here<- and the super christmassy image that is also the header is ->here<-)
