today i learned – tues 28th nov 2017

at the weekend, i watched the good, the bad and the ugly for the first time ๐ŸŽ

thanks to the insanely good soundtrack that i’ve been playing all day ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป we’re having another western based fact today ๐Ÿ˜

#tdil the reason why some western films are known as ‘spaghetti westerns’ ๐Ÿค”

it’s a pretty strange term isn’t it … i hadn’t heard it until today when i mentioned to one of my colleagues that i had watched the aforementioned film ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

in films all about the wild west, the thought of spaghetti seems a tad misplaced … so why on earth do they have that name?! turns out it was a term coined by critics all over the earth for westerns that were produced and directed by italians ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น.

apparently the italians were really into their westerns back in the day ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

anyway, according to aldo sambrell (an actor who appeared in loads of spaghetti westerns) the person who created the term was a spanish journalist named alfonso sรกnchez … he possible has the most spanish name ever ๐Ÿ˜…

adding to the italian theme further … spaghetti westerns were filmed with multilingual casts but were released in italian. they would then be dubbed for the rest of the world ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿป

there you have it! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ you’re now cleverer than you were before ๐Ÿ˜ thanks to this post, you might one day manage to answer the all important winner deciding question at a pub quiz ๐Ÿ˜˜ (i’ll be honest, i can’t think when else this would be useful ๐Ÿ˜‚)

anyway! thanks for reading, i hope you enjoyed ๐Ÿ™‚

catch ya tomozza ๐Ÿค“ #tdil

______

another pub quiz winning fact right there ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป if you feel like learning some more fun stuff, just have a little click ->here<-

(right, time for picture licenses again ๐Ÿ™ƒ … the saloon type deal is ->here<-, the ranch type deal is ->here<- and the final picture of clint eastwood looking super cool is ->here<- … apparently that is in the public domain in italy … don’t know if that extends over here … please don’t sue me ๐Ÿ˜ญ)
