today i learned – thurs 19th oct 2017

as you may have seen in various previous posts, iโ€™ve become one of those weird people that runs ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

iโ€™ll be honest, i hate every second of it and started solely to justify eating more ben and jerryโ€™s ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป .. anyway, hereโ€™s a fact inspired by running ๐Ÿ˜ท

#tdil the cause of that horrid pain that is called a โ€˜stitchโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜“

so yeah, itโ€™s something that weโ€™ve all experienced at some point … that horrible pain in your abdomen that feels like youโ€™re being stabbed ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป have you never wondered why it happens?

i have … therefore i decided to find out ๐Ÿ˜‚ basically, it all comes down to reduced blood flow to your diaphragm (the muscle that separates the stomach and abdomen from the heart and lungs … itโ€™s also important in breathing ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป #quiteimportant).

you see, when you exercise, your blood moves away from the diaphragm and into your muscles … where it is needed the most at the time ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป. the lack of blood goodness causes the diaphragm to cramp – letโ€™s face it, no cramp is ever pleasant ๐Ÿ˜ญ

apparently you can prevent stitches from happening by drinking water before exercise, warming up correctly and not eating too close to your exercise chills ๐Ÿ™‚

what if you are suddenly struck by the dreaded stitch? apparently you can get rid of it by stopping exercise and touching your toes or by putting pressure on the area that hurts ๐Ÿ˜ณ … i havenโ€™t tested these yet … but why would bbc sport lie?

and there you have it! the reason why your body sometimes makes you feel like youโ€™re being stabbed! – it doesnโ€™t happen often, but i think we had an actually useful blog post today!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

anyway, i need sleep ๐Ÿ™ƒ

laterz ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ #tdil
