iβll be honest, when i first read this fact, i genuinely lolβd … like, properly out loud π
i just like it when i see that even people with important jobs have an absolute merh at times.
#tdil that the βhottest place on earthβ lost its title due to the dude taking the measurements not being able to read a thermometer! π
how darn amusing is that!? i literally love fails so so much π … this one is definitely up there with one of the more embarrassing fails! π
the place in question was el azizia in northern libya and they lost the title in 2012 after holding it for a whole 90 years! it was actually taken away after an investigation by the world meteorological organisation.
you see, the (i imagine highly interesting π€) peeps of the wmo had their doubts that the historic claim of 58c, that dated back to 1922, was actually correct … mainly because the temperature of 58c was nothing like the temperatures that had been recorded over the years!
after an investigation that took years, it was ultimately decided that the record had to be taken away due to aforementioned inability to correctly read a thermometer π₯ #awks
it was then awarded to death valley in california ππ» … in 1913 it apparently reached 56.7c there … well, possibly π maybe that one is wrong as well!
itβs always comforting to know that weβre all a bit incompetent ππ»ππ» never feel bad if make a mistake, just remember that this could have been you!
right, iβm off βπ» #tdil
