today i learned – thurs 31st aug 2017

first order of business! this is post 201 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ (once again, i missed the actual milestone ๐Ÿ™ƒ). but yeah, how damn awesome is that?! ๐Ÿ™Š 201 days of entirely pointless facts ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

today is no different … if iโ€™m honest, this is probably the most random post to date ๐Ÿ˜‚

#tdil that there is a legit post box in japan that is 10 metres under water! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ“ฎ

personally, i think this is so darn wonderful and very japanese ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป … like, an under water post box?! literally genius ๐Ÿ™ˆ

anyway, itโ€™s located in a small fishing town called susami (which is in the wakayama district) and is recognised by guinness world records as the worldโ€™s deepest underwater postbox (which implies that there is more than one out there!?).

now you may be thinking to yourself that an under water postbox canโ€™t be actually used for anything … youโ€™d be wrong! itโ€™s a legit postbox that has between 1000 and 1500 items of mail dropped into it each year โœ‰๏ธ

the postbox is generally used by divers that buy waterproof postcards from a local dive shop and then write on them with oil-based paint markers. it is emptied every day by a person from that very same dive shop ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ.

thereโ€™s not much else to say! ๐Ÿ˜‚ itโ€™s a postbox that is underwater ๐Ÿ™ˆ … my need to visit japan just grew even greater ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

anyway!

byeeeeeee ๐Ÿ‹ #tdil

this was definitely one of the more random posts that weโ€™ve had in a while ๐Ÿ˜… if you feel like learning more stuff like this … just go ->here<- ย  (i couldn’t find a picture of this postbox that i was allowed to use ๐Ÿ˜ญย … instead, that is a photo of another underwater postbox at the izu ocean park – yep, there’s more than one! license is ->here<-)
