today’s fact was something that i learned whilst doing my job! … who said that work never teaches you anything? ๐ (i don’t think anyone did).
anyway, today’s fact is not only interesting but might also save you lots of money if you have a heavy right foot ๐ .
#tdil all about the new speeding fine guidelines that came into effect today ๐๐ง.
so, you may have heard about these rules on the radio today because they’ve been all over all the airwaves … like, literally on every radio station.
for those who haven’t seen them, they basically mean that anyone caught speeding will face harsher punishments – especially those who are going really really fast.
in the new scheme, offences are split into three different bands that are named: band a, band b and band c (makes sense really). each band, starting with a, progressively gets more severe – with the worst offenders being classified within band c.
now, thresholds and punishments ๐ฎ๐ป. a band a offence is one of the following: 31-40mph in a 30mph zone or 71-90mph in a 70mph zone. the punishment is three points and a fine that is 25-75% of the offender’s weekly income … oh yeah, i forgot to mention that all fines are based upon weekly income.
stepping it up a gear, band b offenders are those who are caught doing 41-50mph in a 30mph zone or 91-100mph in a 70mph zone … the penalty for these “moderate speeding” offences is a fine of 75-125% of the person’s weekly income and either a seven to 28-day disqualification or between four and six penalty points ๐ณ.
think band b is bad? band c is where things get really serious ๐ฉ๐ปโโ๏ธ. tools (aka male appendages ๐) who are branded as band c are those who are caught doing more than 101mph in a 70mph zone or more than 51mph in a 30mph zone. the punishments in this band are pretty darn harsh – a fine of between 125% and 175% of the offender’s weekly income and between seven and 56 day’s of disqualification or six points.
for people who decide to go really super fast ๐ the disqualification could be longer but fines are capped at ยฃ2500 for motorway offences and ยฃ1000 for offences elsewhere … which seems silly to me if i’m honest ๐ don’t cap dem fines!
despite being a car person, i’m totally 100% behind the new rules … the severe speeding that these new rules are mainly concerned with definitely needs to be punished ๐ too many people die because of them speeding or others around them speeding.
there’s all of your facty goodness for today!! this one is probably the most useful thing that i’ve learned in a while ๐ hopefully you’ll also agree!
right, i need food! ๐
tatty bye ๐๐ #tdil
