in today’s #tdil, i actually know what i’m talking about for once! that, of course, means that we’re talking cars right up in this b today 👍🏻 …(b for blog…this is a family show).
anyway, the plan today was to create a sick film with bentley’s stunning new supercar killer, however (in true ‘team awesome content’ style) it wasn’t that simple. mainly because we spent most of the day with zero access to the car in question.
whilst we never managed to actually make the sick video that we set out to create, i have now memorised every detail of the newest bentley on the block – i’m counting that as today’s #tdil.
so, what is this new bentley? it’s called the continental supersports and it’s the third car from bentley to wear the name. as with its predecessors, this newest supersport is all about power, speed and luxury – in fact, it’s the fastest and most powerful production bentley ever made 👍🏻.
in the front sits a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged w12 engine that creates 700bhp and 750lb ft of torque (i think god may have used a similar engine to start the world spinning) … it’s “ruddy outrageous, thrown back in your seat” type power.
anyway, all of this power is fed to all-four wheels through clever torque converters and things (to ensure that you don’t just sit digging two large holes when you press the accelerator) and subsequently fires the supersports from 0-60mph in just 3.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 209mph … in a luxury barge … actually ridiculous.
with all of this power comes the need for great stopping power – that’s where massive carbon ceramic brakes come in 👍🏻 (the world’s largest brake disc of their kind to be exact).
aesthetically, it’s all a lot meaner thanks to new aerodynamic tweaks such as the new front and rear bumpers, front splitter, rear diffuser, scary bonnet details and a large (optional) wing on the back – that deletes the electronic boot option. it’s a mightily beautiful thing … i’ll be honest and say that i wasn’t overly excited about the looks until i got to see it up close #beast.
inside, it’s pretty standard continental … meaning it’s a fastidiously handcrafted pit of luxury materials, with comfort by the bucket load and a sense of occasion that you don’t get with other cars. in ole english bentley speak – it’s bloody marvellous.
that’s pretty much all of the important stuff that i can remember 😬 it gives you a pretty good feel for the new supersports at least. it’s an awe-inspiring piece of engineering that is just downright magnificent (also, it sounds god darn amazing … like something you’d have expected to hear flying over your house on d-day).
anyway, that’s all from me for today 👍🏻
live long and prosper 🖖🏻 #tdil
